For some reason I recieve advance mailings by Raymarine for new product releases. I just recieved a big 3 ring binder full of stuff. There is a really cool product that will be coming out in March of 2006. It is called the Wireless Man overboard system.

It would address one of my greatest fears, and that is that I lose someone overboard at night offshore, and don't know it until it is too late.

For the safety minded guys here, this is a neat idea.

There is a wireless transmitter that would be worn by crew. when the transmitter goes 30 or so feet away from the base station an alarm will sound. Even better if you have the E or C series display, it will show on the screen where the location of the individual is, so you can track back to it on the chart plotter. It can also be manually activated.

Really neat idea. Now, lets see how much it costs......
