I have two 8 d's and a group 40 for the genny. I have 300 hp diesels. One 8d weighs about 140 lbs. Not sure what your 5 would weigh. I have the two 8d's to stbd outside of that engine and the genset and group 40 outboard of the port engine. Not perfectly balanced but not listing to one side much when low on fuel either. Yes having outboard weight on either side probably increases tendancy to roll while drifting but she's heavy enough its not so bad. 5 batterys seems like a lot of terminals, cables etc. Bigger batteries are simpler and have fewer cables. My 2 cents.
