Cures for severe gelcoat cracking and crazing...

As I progress on the B25 customization project, me thoughts are turning towards paint. Prblem is that the gelcoat is VERY compromised and I'm concerned about the integrity of the paint job. My first thought was to sand off all the gelcoat then start the epoxy paint job. Sanding sucks. If any of you have dealt with and/or cured severe cracking/crazing issues in your projects, I'd like to learn from your experience. Thanks...
