First Carolina Classic boats are at the same level as Sea Ray.
Failure of a part due to poor installation can not be blamed on the part.
That type of situation would not be too far from CC."In the case of the sunken boat, Lt. Fluke says, "we know the hose was melted down.. and ripped." That let water in to the boat."
To me that sounds like the seal was not getting water. It also does not report which brand of seal was used.
I have seen hose and clamp failure on regular packing gland type of seals that would have done the same thing.
The only way it could have let water in is if they were going slow which at that point one of the crew should have noticed that the boat was low in the water or that the bilge pumps were running without shutting off.
Based on their preparation, leaving cell phones in the v berth, no VHF except handheld, only one wearing a pfd, the crew was ill prepared for the trip with poor planning.
No way they should have perished.
