JJ,
This topic has been beat to death and many opinions have been given.
As the owner, your free to install what ever you want and can afford. If your looking for help in convincing you to spend the extra grand for the 370's cause you only live once then I doubt you'll find any takers here.
330hp in the 31 is the most hp in the stock configuration that can be used without changing the gear ratio to the point you loose the advantage of the higher hp. So at that point why bother.
You might as well divorce your wife and give her half your stuff cause it's just as big a waste of money. If you want the higher hp and want to be able to take advantage of it, you will have to add prop pockets.
That will prevent the bow from nose diving. As far as speed goes, there have been some that hit 40 to 50 knots. The hull was not designed to go that fast and what you risk is chine walking which leads to risky handling.
One side effect to this is at high speed turns, the chine digs in and suddenly you turn very fast and very hard leading to possible injury to personal on your boat and those around you due to loss of control.
Once the chine digs in, the rudders become ineffective until you slow down.By then you could have t-boned another boat.
I have been on a 31 that did this and have had reports of others that did the same.
The 31 is not a go fast boat, although some seem to think it is.
