In Response To: New Deck has Arrived (Brad)

Brad,
Had the pleasure of asking Capt Pat the same question when he was in Houston last summer. He told me to attach the outside sections to the center section by screwing up through the bottom of the flange on the center section. First drill your holes in the outside sections where you're going to set your screws. Take a rattail file with an angled rattail and hollow out the holes around the edges and fill with an epoxy/cabosil mixture. Set the outside sections down on the flanges and redrill through the bottom of the flanges and into the hardened epoxy in the outside sections. This attaches the outside sections to the center section. The weight of the center section attached to the outside sections will immobiilize the whole deck making it one solid son-of-a-gun. You only need about three screws on each flange to attach the outside sections. Six screws on the whole deck should be good. He said you don't even need to worry about the outside of the outer sections since the three pieces have in essence become one and won't move at all. Just make sure you have the substructure the correct heighth so everything lays down and drains back and out. That's my recollection of Patrick's advice. I may have left out a few colorful anecdotes since there were a few beers cracked that night, but that is the jist of it. Hope that helps.
John
