AJ update

Well, its been almost 6 months since Katrina. Spoke with the yard today about AJ and we are taking baby steps still. Running gear is all about sequence, gotta get the glass work done on the hull cracks around the stb. strut before all the rest can go back in. New struts, checked out shafts, rebuilt props, new shaft couplings, new cutless bearings all ready to go, but gotta wait on the glass work. Slow, slow, slow, but the yard is operating on about a third staff in a city destroyed. Paint shop not back up and running yet, and AJ will need some Imron work. Welder scheduled to fix up the half tower, but not done yet. New venturi windsheild built but not installed, gotta wait on the welder. Overall, I see progress, and under the circumstances, guess its OK. Just hard to fathom the destruction and its effect all over - everything is running in slow motion, and the shame is it will for years to come.

Anyway, if I sound sorta discouraged, guess I am, but the up side is AJ is intact and will carry me to glory as winner of the UVI in years to come.
