In Response To: cockpit update (Charlie S)

Hi Charlie, I haven't done either but have had my cockpit out twice (it's aluminum and had been replaced before, it screws from the top.)

While you've got the back-end apart, assess the condition of ruddre shelves, wiring, plumbing. It's a lot easier to get to the rudder shelves with the floor out (I did mine last year). Also, if you want to upgrade to add lighting or a shower/wash-down, now would be the time to do it.

Another upgrade I've been thinking of is a cockpit steering station. It would help alot when fishing short handed or docking single handed.

As mentioned, the info on Buddy Boy is a great refference, you'd just have different dimensions.

Another consideration from skill is the time you have available to work on the project. I quickly found during my rudder shelf project that I didn't have the time to actually work. Not to mention the dependency on weather, yard fees.

Best of luck and keep us posted on how it goes. I for one would love to see pictures and hear any tips as you go through this.

br,
John
