I will see if I can take some pics this weekend.
On the steering, I tend to put the death grip on the wheel and in rough seas, the helm tends to take alot of pounding. My helm was simply screwed into the fly bridge panel which was just screwed into the flybridge console on the edges. As such, the pounding tended to make the seals leak and tended to pull the panel off the console. I put in some support on the backside to anchor the helm to the panel to the flybridge. I will see if I can get some pics. Tough to explain, easy to see.
My fiberglass work consists of raising the engine hatchs about an inch and a quarter to inch and a half. I am just pulling the center section, removing the engine hatches, building up the lips outboard of the hatches, building up the lip into the cockpit, and then re-installing the hatches. Pretty straight forward except for the hatch drains/channel.
I can barely get the hatches to close over those Yanmar 230/240's without raising them. Thats with a bunch of stuff striped off the top of the engines and no soundproofing. Of course, with the flex in those hatches, once you step on them, they barely rub the top of the engines. Thats also were people tend to hang out and were I store one of the coolers.
I want to put in some soundproofing, so I gotta raise the hatches. Tried a bunch of tricks to avoid it, but finally decided to just bite the bullet and get it done.
