For # 8 wire size I just use a hammer on an anvil and smash it. Then Use Silver bearing solder(Radio Shack has it) and solder it. Keep it simple.
To fasten the zinc, Bronze hardware or SS. Use Tefgel or any good water proof anti-oxident. No Tefgel is OK for elecrical despite what some may think. It is water proof.You can also use Penetrox or Never Seize Marine or CRC electrical grease available at most marine supply stores.
Do it now so you can fish when the weather warms up. Dave K
