A friend by me did a deck that way, looked very sharp. Light and seemed quite strong. I was in the midst of dong mine over and really thought that would be the way to go.
After thinking about it I went with the Bertram/Glastech deck. Reasons,

First, the time to do the deck correctly was not available. To do it half assed, I could have just put down new plywood and been better off.

Secound the cost of the material adds up very quickly so the thought of it being a cheap way out faded quickly.

Third, did I mention time. You can get a professional looking job if it is done right, I am sure of this. However, small Holidays really cheapen the look, as I mentioned my friend did his and I went back several days later for an honest look. Yes it looked good, but you could see fillets where off a bit here and there, hatchs not quite right. Definetly nice, and a way to go if a stock decking was not available.
