That was a great response Vic. Thank you very much. In regards to Oil and filters. I was reading in the Cummins manuals and the oil changes are much further apart that what ive heard we should be doing. I rather be conservative in this regards. How often should I be changing oil and filters.
We are currently using for oil filters AC DELCO PF 1071 and FleetGuard LF 3349. Numbers are different thatn the ones you recomended. Will look into this.
I have one last followup question in regards to Air Filters. On our recent trip to Costa Rica turns out that when we got our boat unloaded from Dockwise and got it packed for the trip and we couldnt put the boat on plane!!!!
We were way overweighted. We had 5 people onboard with luggage for a week, 250 galons of diesels + 60 additional galons of diesel in bins (cause the captain didnt trust the engines efficiency yet...),
all the spares that Andre brought (proppelars, tools, alternator, starter, etc...) and food and beer. Well you can imagine... ;-) Both exhausts were below water and the boat was floating below the flotation line!!!! At one point Andre B wanted to bail out on us and fly back to Baton Rouge. So we decided doing the trip at 9-10 knots!!!Yet this seemed strange to me... when we were in Quepos we decided to change Air Filters wich looked filthy. I dont know if it was coincidence or not but that day we were able to get the boat on plane and start riding at 20-21 knots!! What a difference....
COuld it have been a problem of air or weight...what do you think....
How are them Tigers doing??? I was in Baton Rouge from 94-99 studying at LSU....great fun..
