Paul,

I have a 28 with the same gears. The Stbd. does exactly the same thing. If you lower the idle to much you will get a chattering. I call the factory and talked with the tech guy and he said both are normal (to a point). As long as there are no signs of wear/damage in the oil they said not to worry. That was 3 years ago.
