Well, I have the 6BTA 250 Cummins with 1.5 gears and 21 x 22 no cup 3 blade nibrals and at 650 rpm she goes about 5 kts and about 3 on one. Have the huge Patrick rudders, and steering on one engine at any speed is a breeze. We fish tarpon now and then, and it takes a dead slow troll using the Coonass Connpops. I use one engine at a time (leave both running)and just bump one, then the other, in and out of gear, can go as slow as you want. Trolling valves in the gears is the lazy man's way, but all you do is slip the clutch plates, like your grandma slipping the clutch in the old Dodge. Bad idea from the get go. If you gonna seriously fish, apy attention and just bump her in and out of gear. Most sluggish fish hit on the drop anyway, so make the baot your "rod twitch".
