Just got my latest issue of "Seaworthy" from Boat U.S. Looks like the NY/ Long Is. area could have the most apparent problem. My question is how does the lower concentration of ethaol impact us in MD - takes longer to do the same job?
I am really not in the mood to replace my fuel tank after just rebuilding an engine at the end of last season. On a side note, my mechanic advised me to not leave my tank full over the winter due to a change in the fuel mix that occurred this year. Apparently Mercruser had an advisory out on this, but I have not confirmed.
My hunting buddy tried to use last Jaunary's gas (with stabilizer) when we went out scouting for ducks two weeks ago. His new Yamaha ouboard would not run for !@#$. Each time we tried to accelerate, the engine died. Told him I thought we needed fresh gas, however he had to try a half dozen times or so to run the motor before he took my word.
We eneded up getting a new fresh 5 gal tank of gas. After the bad gas ran out of the line, engine ran perfectly the rest of the weekend.
Something fishy going on here...gas boats may need to keep a watchful eye...hopefully it is nothing. Just my $0.02.
