Makes me wonder if it isn't a good idea to just pull out the thermostat completely. They're really hard to get at on my engines (CAT 3208T). You have to pull the heat exchanger which is a really difficut task on my boat. If/when I ever have to do it I think I might just get rid of the thermostat. So what if the engines run cool for a bit longer after startup - how bad a thing could that be?
