Bruce, i had my own service company for over 38 years before i turned it over to my sons this past July. We had the same problem with Realtors who needed everthing within a week (impossible ), i always said i would do the best i can and reasonable people understand . I think most companies are under the gun, just try to cool it and roll with the punches. As for getting paid after you do get the retainer ( by the way, not from friends )the worst offenders in order were hospitals, doctors and lawyers. Good Luck
