The 4lhdte 170 hp that were in Xanadu ran great and burned a very minimal amount of fuel. The boat was significantly under powered with 5kw genset, full tower and 330 gallons of fuel plus water, etc. THis was on a 28 Bertram which is about the same weight as the 31s.

They should have put the 240s in her, but the 170s would run a heavy load at only 15-16 kts. A light load (which was frequently all we needed due to small fuel consumption) would push about 18-19.

At less than 10gph we could do day trips on 100 gallons and would often run on very light tanks.
