guys - for what its worth, i installed a thru-hull 3 years ago with a 3/4inch thick starboard block. Used 5200 to seal it all and have absolutely no problem. while i had the goopy 5200 flowing i dabbed some on 2 small peices of starboard scrap - i let them dry and i'd have to say they are near-permanently bonded together. Itried prying them apart with a flathead screwdriver and hammer and got nowhere...just scratched the hell out of the starboard.

I think you'll be OK eitherway, but if i did it again, i'd use starboard.
