Chiles, I've seen a product called "Bilge Buddy" that is a solid state sesor that measures resistence then activates the pump. It can be setup to pump water, but not pump out oil, for instance. I have never used it but I will probably give it a try on my project if and when it gets to that stage. I'm also interested in non-immersed pumps if anyone has favourites.
