Craig,
I've been reading lots of posts and have come to this conclusion for my own opinion and use.I would use aluminum with Rino Lined exterior. Captain Patrick did this recently and had documented it very well. The coal tar epoxy just sounds like alot of work to apply and I can't see any benifit of using it over Rino Liner.
I would route the return lines and pickup lines into a removable plate similar to the oval plate and hex manifold we have today. It was real nice being able to remove them on my tank when I cleaned it out. I wish my tank was mounted another 3" back so I did not have to remove the deck cover and FB ladder to remove the oval cover.
The last thing I would want to have is one more pickup on the top of the tank that would draw off nearly the very bottom lowest part where water would pool. I think it would help aluminum tanks last longer if there was way to check for water / trash when ever I change the oil, etc.
You could actually have an outboard type plug threaded on the top and use a bulb to pump anything out, or if it is clean us it to prime the filters when changing them.
OK, I'm dreaming again.
