Hello Rob,
I am a Palm Beach County B28 (1973) owner as well. I have done extensive work to mine since I bought it about 3 years ago. I have probably the same genset (3kw onan) that you spoke of in mine. Started with mainly original '89 crusaders 270hp/350ci. I have done all wiring and panels, remove lower station, hydraulic steering, autopilot, a/c, fridge, head, all thru-hulls, seacocks and plumbing, transmissions, remove and clean/paint engines, exhaust risers, exhaust hoses/elbows/clamps, wiring harnesses, heat exhcangers, oil coolers, all oil lines, hoses, raw water pumps, mounts, alternators, starters, batteries, charger, white bilge paint, new battery shelves, genset shelf (in between engines), water tank shelf, rudders (larger), platform, cockpit panels (starboard, but if again would use foam board like Capt. Pat says), freshwater pump, saltwater washdown, gauges, switches, horn, antennas, canvas enclosure, forward bed, interior lights, stereo system, electronics. My projects now are rudder shelves at next haul, rear cabin bulkheads (where two rear windows/door mounts), resealing windshield and sanding/awlgrip frames, retint windows. There is definitely something to be said about buying one with as much work already done as possible, but I have found that sometimes the work done is not to acceptible standards (my rudder shelves appear to have been worked once/very sloppy), which means you get to do it again anyway. I am in the marine repair business (Skyler Marine), and this has been my dreamboat for years, so I don't mind as much. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Any time I see a B28,31,33,35,42,25,20 I make a stop to at least look at her and compare to what I've seen already. I love these boats. Skyler
