Doc, they do, and cost about 2 bucks a pop they say - trade with the locals. Likewise to you and yours, Miss Elaine and our daughter Jen shopped till they dropped today, a girl thing.

Think it was UVI 1 when Stan Smith and Crazy Al Walker went out on the Wet Spot and dove the rigs and got us about 40 spiny lobsters (out of season, but we had immunity) and Darryl boiled them up for us. Maybe TSL can hunt some up. Read a report from some guy that had just returned from TSL that said there are no mosquitos there, the food is great, the swimming pool is cool, the B31's are cool. Port Eads used to have two of those four.

One of my fondest memories of Port Eads was the first time I flew down there. Had been by boat a few times, but was ready to put a houseboat down there. This was back in the late 70's and Buzzy ruled the place, it was owned by the Parish and Buzzy was the Parish Harbormaster. I had plenty of advice on how to grease the wheels to get a houseboat spot there, but was not sure how to approach Buzzy. Flew down thee in a beat up Cessna 172, called Buzzy on a handheld VHF and he said to land and he'd pick me up. The airstrip, maintained by the Parish, was behind the goat hill. 2400 foot strip, hard as a rock with some grass. Bounced in, Buzzy came over from the fuel dock in a flat boat and got me. Took me all around the harbor picking out my spot. The c-note I slipped him did not hurt. After an hour or so, the deal was done. As he was getting up to take me back across the bayou to the air strip, he asked if I liked spiny lobsters. "Sure" I said. He went in the cooler and brought out about a 12# lobster in a plastic bag. He said he got it off an offshore shrimper. Took it, thanked him, and flew off the grass strip back to BR. Filed IFR in the air due to some weather, almost got run over by a 707 on a long final into MSY, cancelled the IFR, went low and followed the river home. Got home, the kids were little, and we boiled the big sucker like a crawfish. All 4 of us could eat maybe half of it. Made good left overs.

I miss the place. Maybe TSL will be a good place until we can get Port Eads back.....
