JJ - assume you meant 1 & 3/8" as what you have now. The diesels, especially the Cummins low speed ones, have a lot of torque that will twist off shafts. The more gear ratio you have, the less an issue it is - i.e. 2:1 ratio gears are not as hard on shafts as 1.5/1. Seems the consensus here is that any diesel over 250 hp needs 1.5" shafts, and anything over 315 would be better off with 1.75". Most of us use the high strength AQ 22 shafts.
