Ninety percent of life is timing. The Union movement of the 30's was a result of the abuses of labor by "Big Business" managements. We have come full circle and the unions have now become big businesses with the same kind of corrupt, overpaid, overprotected managements as the big public corporations they complain about. My question is, when are the stockholders of these public companies and union members going to come down on these "managements" whose outrageous greed spawns a thought process completely out of context with real life. Today, Toyota exceeded General Motors as the largest automotive company in the world. They did it by producing a quality product with employees who like working for them and are proud of what they produce. Shame on America! Time to get back to basics by both labor and managements. Last time there was a transit strike, other unions went on strike in sympathy. Taxis suddenly weren't around, people wouldn't cross picket lines. Not any more! Time for unions to wake up. Time for CEO's to see the light (or a jail cell). Time for the investing public to be satisfied with reasonable profits from a company not outrageous ones that paint a great short term picture but a disastrous long term one. If we don't wake up soon, we're heading for a depression that we won't be able to handle. Benefits don't mean diddle if you don't have a job. The time to fix this is now, not tomorrow. To those who say "it can't happen here", I say it did. I grew up in it and I don't want my grandkids to experience those years.
