Hey guys. Lots of you gave me really good advice as I'm looking for a bigger boat. Well, I went to see this 1972 B28. It had new Ford 351's (RWC)put in in 1998 and an Onan 3.0 KW genny at that time. It at one time had auxillary fuel tanks port and starboard both outboard of the engines. Now that space if filled by batteries..starboard, and generator port. Now it just has the 165 center tank. It's kinda rough...chalky hull, the formica side pannels been replaced with plywood...painted (poorly). Its got the lower steering station but the owner unhooked it because the steering is mechanical and it made the top station hard to steer. Here is major question for all of you....What kinda wood are the motors sitting on...Is that Cedar planks or what? Again, I have a 25..and I'm amazed that the "quality" Bertram used plywood (battery tray) and other exposed wood in construction. The motor mount wood was sandwiched between two pieces of plywood..none looked rotten, but I'm just concerned with this. Also, you can see where they glassed the edges that connect with the bulkheads. Of course you get what you pay for, and we'll see. I have all the maintence records of the engines which seem to be kept up pretty well with manifold/riser changes done in the last couple of years. How many things can I run off that 3.0KW generator? If I buy the boat, I would want to add a water heater. The engines are raw water cooled so that's out. the old huge ice box is in there...I heard of one of you haveing a water heater behind a smaller refrig where the old large ice box was. Its got the center water tank in the cabin (aluminum). Was this the standard config? Anyway, just updating everyone. I can do lots of the cosmetics and little things my self. I made an offer. I made an offer based on the amt of work that needs to be done. I have pictures if anyone wants to see. Thanks. Rob
