I'm pretty sure the paint was a radar obsorbing coating to make them less visable on the scopes.
I can certainly understand them removing that.

These boats also have the sterns cut thru so they would have to be completely redone. Not worth anything but the anchor and controls that are still on them. I guess if you had a glass shop and needed a winter project and labor was cheap....

Not for anyone I know.
