If you are afraid that a faster boat might pull up next to you, then you may want to go with Gassers. joking of course...
On a fishing vessel Deisels ultimately equate to range/efficiency, cruising speed, and longevity,
the 330's will let you cruise real high, I've been on the Four Winds at over 30kts... Nice to be able to get there once in while, nose dips a little, but it felt right to me. Wouldn't want to try that in even a mild head sea.
It's also nice to be able to cruise at 27-30kts, and you'll need the 300hp plus to do that. Up here in the North east on a 31' vessel, 30kt cruising doesn't happen often.
Of course as mentioned earlier there are some compromises on the bottom end to consider.
I would also wonder if normally cruising them at the reduced speed because of sea conditions has a negative, or positive effect on longevity
Sounds like a good decision to be in position to consider...
good luck!
