Rob,
A comment from a someone who has been around boating for 40 years. Everyday for the last 30.10% of people I know have wives who are truly involved in their boating.
Unless you have a big motor tub, most women do not like to "rough" it.Most wives are dainty folks who frown at breakin a nail handlin the dock lines.
Out of those 10% whose wives are involved, 5% should have been left in the cave from which they came.
Captain Bly with the runs of the mouth comes to mind.Out of the other 5%, about 1% percent of those have any interest in fishing, rough water running, or handling the boat.
The other 4% sit their fat ass in the deck chair and won't lift a finger to help.
I said all that to say if you have that 1% wife, count your blessings, give her a big hug and kiss and make her part of the decision.
If you fall anywhere else, even in the 9%, she will lose interest after a while even if you get the boat more suited to her needs than yours, and when she decides she had enough, your stuck with a boat that sucks to your needs.
Show me a man with a howdy boat, and I'll show you a man who carries his stones in a paper sack.
