B28 comes standard with 165 gal tank. I get about 1 nautical miles per gal... that's in line with what others are saying in miles. Some B28's have saddle tanks on either side of the shaft logs that bring it up over 200 gals. Range is an issue if you want to go 90 miles out... can't get back. For me, I usually fish 30 - 35 miles out. That puts me on the west side of the Gulf Stream.I cruise at 22 kts and top-end around 27-28 kts depending on the waves/weather. Remember, your speed and range will be drastically reduced in rough seas. Last month I went 35 miles out in 3-4 foot seas. Coming in we were over 6' seas and confused and I had to keep rpms down to ~15,000 to keep from pounding. It took over two hours to get back and we burned fuel like crazy. It's the first time I burned over 150 gals in one trip.
Don't go alone for all the reasons others have said. It's just too dangerous. I have taken it out on short runs down the ICW alone. As long as the wind is down, it's easy to get in/out of slip by yourself. It's still dangerous in any boat to go off-shore alone.
I did go fishing with just one other person. It got pretty interesting landing a 35 lb bull dolphin with no one on the bridge! I just put one engine in neutral and let her make slow left hand turns and kept the fish on the starboard side. It would be tough to land a billfish with just 2 guys and no auto pilot or other way to back down and land one.
