Well, we are back from N.O. - the extent of the destruction remains hard to describe in words.
AJ is on the mend. Shafts and rudders otu and on their way to the machine shop for checkup. Stb. wheel has a pretty good bend to it, but easily fixed. The stb. strut appears OK, the one that took all the weight on it. Small hull crack just aft of the stb. strut - figure the twisting from the strut caused that. It appears Capt. Patrick's super duper rudders survived as the yard said they fell right out with on hammering. Thanks for designing them so strong, Ole Fart.
Sideband antenna crushed (sorry, Doc, it was a good one) where whatever hit her high on the stb. side and took out some tower pipes. SiTex autopilot head cracked. Stb. Lee Sr. 2" stainless main outrigger tube bent bad, so she took a helluva lick on the stb. Hull paint scrapes not bad, can probably shoot the spots in the Imron 5000, so guess we shall see if it's as "repairable" as they say.
Some scrapes on the bottom stb. bow area that will require some filling & fairing.
The pipe welder was there working on another boat alongside AJ and she is next in line, so I'm pleased about that since those guys are in real short supply around here. Old genset removed and the new one (6.5 KW this time) is on the way from Phasor.
There is about a 50' sailboat across the slip where AJ was before the storm that came down on a piling - a real tall piling - and impaled her, to give you an idea of how high the storm surge was. I took a pix of that with Andre's standing next to hit and I'll send to someone who can post it.
Anyway, under the circumstances to see her propery blocked up, folks working on her, gives me a lot of encouragment. She will be back sooner than I figured.
And Andre' - thanks for the ride.
