Bob, thanks for your response. The hatch solution is the right long term solution. In my circumstances, there seems to be so musch work that I now realize needs to be done, I might as well pull the engine, fix the entire shaft situation, then see if the belt destruction will be an ongoing event requiring the hatch through the bulkhead.
Thank you and your wife for the escort through Cuttyhunk. I have some great pictures of "Frayed Knot" from the trip I must forward to you. I have one which will replace the picture of the Bounty Hunter you mentioned. It is that good.
