Paul,
Check with a an infared heat detection gun if you have one. That is the best way then you know how accurate your guage is. They are cheap if you do not already have one around $70.00.
The temp quoted is at run speed of course. Idle ing is a lower temp usually.Check your manufacture's specs on running engine temp first.
