Sean,
The process is a powder coating done by Matrix Coatings in West Palm Beach. The plant is across the street from my shop...
I haven't used them myself, but they get very good reviews from those around here who have & our area is notorius for barnicale growth.
Matrix hasn't been doing this process long enough to get long range durability samples but so far it's working good.
Like any powder coating, abrassive environment will be the greatest enemy of longivity. If you run in a lot of real sandy water & more than occassionally "touch" sand or gravel the coating probably will have to be re-done on an annual basis. In clean water the coating could last several years...
Matrix is rather secretive about what's in their formula, but I suspect that there's some pretty slippery stuff in the mix. Teflon is basically a powder coating process, but I'm not going out on a limb and saying that that's some of the content.
Br,
Patrick
