It's just not a do-able deal as there are not enough players for a bookie to spread the risk over. Our boats are insurable, just most of us have to deal with ACV coverage, usually as an add on to our other insurance such as homeowners. ACV should not scare you, as long as you are comfortable that the amount she's insured for is a reasonable market value. It's in the final analysis just a proof problem. I know if push comes to shove I can prove - in a court of law which happens to be my playground - that AJ is worth nearer 120 than 42. My hull insurance premium is reasonable, my liability coverage with an unbrealla is reasonable, so I'm happy. I plunked down that bet guessing a Cat. 4 hurricane would find AJ, and I won. Simple as that.
