Wayne - Chris (St. Romain) is one of the owners of SeaTrac, and a nice guy. I had not thought about the fact that the battery, which a little juice to hold the settings, might be bad. Remember that the 41X is about 15 year old technology, before hard memory. I had the same problem with an old SiTex loran, and in fact with my Raytheon 600 chart plotter. But the good news is that there is a simple solution vs. changing the battery - just leave power on to the unit, i.e. never turn the breaker off to the unit, leave the 12v power line to it energized and most will sip a little juice past the on/off relay to keep the memory up. The purpose of the battery is to keep the memory up when the unit is disconnected from the 12v supply for short to medium periods of time. When the battery goes bad it will only power the memory for a few minutes if at all when the main 12v supply is cut off. All the new stuff uses flash card memory that needs no power to keep. Try keeping the power on to the unit and see what happens.
