I don't have my insurance with Boat US. I called them to have a policy written and they very nicely informed me that I needed to have an approved surveyor do a write up on my boat before they insured it.

Well, I got the survey and then Boat US said it would only insure it for a litte more then book value because of age, even though I had receipts for more then four times that for engines, outdrives and electronics. Why ask for a survey if they won't even look at the dollar amount.

Travelers insured me for just a little under what the surveyor wrote, but asked for the receipts for justification. Travelers was competitive with Boat US even though the coverage was for much more.
