Florida Detroit Diesel mechanics?

My 50 is now down in Stuart FL. Every mechanic up here in CT was too buisy to work on it before I left to go down.
I'm looking for a good mechanic somewhere near Stuart. One of my 8v92's is in need of a basic rebuild, cylinder kits/heads etc. I talked to Florida DDA in Ft. Pierce & they quoted $28,000.
When I bought the boat, I had the other engine done by Penn DDA & it cost $17,787. How could Florida DDA charge an extra $10k?????????
