I had the same problem on AJ years ago with the a/c pump. People forget how much the B31 rises at speed, so the pump will come above the waterline in most installs. The ultimate solution is to replace the pump with a flexible impeller (self priming) pump. I did this and have had zero problems since, altho it is a little louder. A forward facing scoop at the thru hull pickup would be another solution.
