Ken-

My AC is mounted under my forward dinette, intake just aft of the water tank, and pump mounted under aft dinette. I'd lose prime or whatever any time I opened the strainer basket, etc., and would have to disconnect the hose at the AC intake, let the water flow, and that would get it going again.

I put a 3-way fitting in the intake hose just before where the intake hose goes into the A/C unit, so that I now have a hose with a valve on it that just runs into the bilge. When I lose prime, I open that valve until the water flows, close the valve, and the A/C pumps again. Simple, cheap, easy fix. Hope this helps.
