Jerry - when you say an a/c is not an option, is that because you don't have juice to the boat? If you do, a Happy's Air Dry - about 75 watts of 120vac will do the trick. I put mine on the v bertrhs just under the hatch and it keeps everything dry as a bone, aided by a little low watt fan out of a frig in the v berth doorway. You gotta move the air, that's the trick. If you have no juice, consider some thick foam rubber propped up against the hatch from the inside with a couple of sticks.
