Keep your chair.
Regardless of the age it is a piece of the boat that stays with it. I've spent thousands of dollars for a chair that fits my boat, if you ever need it it's there and free. Have a mount made from the plate for an X-actics box if you feel the need to fill the void, but don't chuck what might cost more the 6 grand to replace. You saved the boat, why waste the chair?
