Alright Bill, headed out of town so I'll give some more info assuming your going w/in the next 2 months.
You can catch sailfish out of all the ports, except maybe Cabo this time of year. Probably there also. The acapulco fleet stinks, slow, dirty boats. I don't like fishing there. Although you stand a good shot at sails.
Cabo is great yearround for Striped marlin, andBlues/Blacks Oct-Dec, occasional sail. Expect to live bait the stripes and sails, lures for the rest. I concur on Pisces Fleet. They have several B31's.
Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo has been off, too much rain in the mountains has made the water dirty way offshore. Don't know about the last 2 weeks. If it clears, good for sails, occasional blue. Good fleet in Zihuatanejo. Also check out the roosterfishing if you can. Its right off the beach though you might need to run up or down a ways. Their big billfish tournament is this month I think.
Mazatlan and PV, great for jumbo yellowfins 20 miles out. I mean yellowfin upwards of 300 lbs livebaiting. Good to great for sails, blues occasionally to really slow. Good fleet.
If I was looking for any billfish, I would choose Cabo first, w/Mazatlan/PV a close second, especially if sailfish fits the bill. (pun intended)
I fished all this year except Acapulco and I don't care to go back to that shitpit ever again. Fished them between May 1 and Sept 22 this year. From memory, +/- a few possibly
Cabo- 9 striped marlin, 2 sails, 3 days fishing
Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa-9 sails, 1 blue lost boatside, 5 roosters, 2 days fishing
PV- 4 sails, 1 blue
Mazatlan- 7 sailfish, 2 days fishing
These were the slow times, good time is now through spring in most locations. Boats are negotiable unless booked in advance. Good luck-Tom
