Harry - just don't even worry a second about putting too much weight forward and the hull plowing. The B31 hull cannot and will not plow at any speed, short of exceeding her hull speed of about 33 kts with the stock shaft angle, but getting around that is another story. The magic of Ray Hunt's design and Dick Bertram's manufacturing is that the B31 hull is not really a planing hull that has to come up on a flat stern section and go "over the hump" to get level. The lifting strakes on the sides of the hull lift her straight up in the air like jacks at speed.
As for the water heater, since you mentioned it earlier and I replied about my old flash heater, I did an ebay motors search under boat parts for 'water heaters' and came up with an outfit that is selling a flash water heater that looks pretty good, about 200 bucks.
Again, don't worry a tad about putting too much weight forward, just keep it low and centered. In fact, many of us have debated putting ballast, like lead shot in bags, forward to make the old hulls do better in a head sea. Most of us think a TON, yes, 2,000# of high density (lead) weight ballast in the bow sections would be good for the boat. The best head sea B31 I have ever fished in rough water was my late buddy's FBC with 3208 Cats (2400# each vs. my Cummins 6BTA's at 1300#) that would run 22 kts into a head sea that will knock the fillings out of my teeth on my AJ - I'd have to slow down to maybe 17 to get the same ride.
