Capt Pat thought that with the 170 Yanmars that it might be beneficial to go the 10 degree route for increased performance. Hopefully, Capt Pat will chime in and explain his reasoning better than I can. I would have so much more room without those 8" boxes. You would have about a 9" step up just behind the engines and then smooth sailing all of the way up to the helm.
