40 year old gelcoat

As I recently stated, purchased a 65 20' moppie from a boathouse in N.Ga. mountains, all original including gelcoat(blue) with heavy oxidation it looks thirsty.What should I buff it with ? Electric or air powered buffer?Rubbing compound?What type of pads? Then what is the product of choice for keeping it up? In light of the current storm situation I know this is trivial and my thoughts are with those affected.All input is appreciated ,I've learned alot just lurking.Thanks
