Well, looks like our gathering at FLL may be a no-go. The extent of the damage and power outages is huge. The FLL airport suffered extensive damage to the roof and ceilings. Power is out to 3.1 million customers in south FL. Running water is out in most places.
The best up to the minute source of info still working is the FLL newspaper site, www.sun-sentinel.com
I spoke to Capt. Patrick a couple of hours ago and he was still ok but shut his computers down as the genset power was acting up.
Right now I'm leaning toward not going at all since it is very doubtful there will be a boat show at all. I have reservations for 8 or 9 rooms at the Flophouse and will try to call the bambooshka and see if the place has a hope of opening up this week. Just called, phone rang, no answer or answering machine. Will try again. Will check with airlines to see if anyone plans to fly into FLL in the next few days.
