Don't even think about buying a hurricane damaged 31 Bertram, if the boat is already in the hands of a salvage yard it's already junk and going to cost you a hell of alot more than you think. Like Bruce said just ask about a 31 that was run aground on the Palm Beach south jetty at 25 miles an hour. I totaled the boat after it was hauled at Cracker Boy, Pat and Russ were with me. The owner said he was going to keep the boat and repair it for 15K, after doing a half assed repair job 5 months later, I still condemed the boat. Totaling a 31 is pretty hard to do, but if you have a quailfied glassman repairs can be done properly. This boat would have cost over 100K if repairs were done by a quailified yard. As a former boat builder and an active surveyor beware of salavaged boats. A sunk or heavy damaged boat will have a stigma attached the rest of its days.
