Shulbok, several years ago I was invited to Boston for stiper bass fishing. The marina where my friend kept his boat had a B31 several slips over. Prior to that day, I did not even know what Bertram was much less the impressive history and legacy of the B31. Needless to say, my comment that day to my fishing buddy, was someday I will own a B31. I was so intrigued by the B31 that day. Talk about special attraction!! It took me 4 months to locate a B31 and the rest is history. I initially started a gas/diesel conversion project with Carl of Elite Marine at St Petersberg and soon realized that the smartest thing to do was a TOTAL restoration. Our classic B31s deserve nothing less. SUPERMEX was completed gutted and remains at Elite Marine continuing with her renovation. I am in the military and have transfered 3 times since owning her and could not have completed any rework on her even if I wanted to. But seeing the work needed to truly bring out the best in the B31, having a professional do the work is a very smart decision. I had the joy of motoring her from the Keys back to Tampa and several months of great fishing. The B31 is an incredible offshore boat with unbelievable handlng characteristics. I have owned many, many boats over the years and there is absolutely no comparison. Whatever degree of rework you decide to do on a B31 will be time and money very well spent. Good luck and happy shopping. r/ Roland
