Ditto what Bruce indicated, cork/neoprene gasket material works well. I also use an a gasket sealer, Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket, on both surfaces.

That said, I would fix your water intrusion problem...before it starts causing other problems, if it has not already done so.
